Stationary Source Sampling

Pollutants from various industrial processes are typically emitted through ducts or smoke stacks to atmosphere.  In most cases, these pollutants are regulated by local or federal governments to protect the environment.    Data collected from stack tests can be used for compliance, reporting to the National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI), and/or engineering purposes.

Source Test’s primary business is in the field of emission testing.  Through the use of reference test methods, our field crews can measure all forms of air pollutants including:

  • Particulate, Trace Metals
  • SOx, NOx
  • O2, CO2, CO
  • HCl, HF, CL2, ClO2
  • H2S, TRS
  • RATA
  • Hydrocarbons
  • Dioxins / Furans / PCBs

Source Test operates a mobile continuous emission monitoring system (CEM).  This system allows for real time measurement and trending of O2, CO2, CO, SOx, NOx, and total hydrocarbons (THC).

Source Test Ltd. can also provide diagnostic testing services to help clients reduce emissions, optimize process operations and reduce operating costs. Special tests are available to characterize emissions for the design and modification of pollution control systems.

For emission sources in British Columbia, the BC Ministry of Environment has published a Field Sampling Manual (2003). This manual details approved test methods, testing requirements, and proper stack construction / set-up. To download this manual click on the below link. For stacks outside of BC, please contact your local government for testing details.
